Letter dated 27 May 2010 from the Secretary-General addressed to the President of the Security Council
I have the honour to refer to the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP), established by Security Council resolution 186 (1964) of 4 March 1964 and most recently extended by Council resolution 1898 (2009) of 14 December 2009.
Following the usual consultations, I would like to inform you that I intend to appoint Ms. Lisa Buttenheim (United States of America) as my Special Representative in Cyprus and head of UNFICYP. She will replace Mr. Tayé-Brook Zerihoun (Ethiopia), who completed his assignment on 30 April 2010. I would like to take this opportunity to express my appreciation to Mr. Zerihoun for his dedication and effective leadership of UNFICYP, including in support of my good offices mission in Cyprus.
I should be grateful if you would bring this matter to the attention of the Security Council.
(Signed) BAN Ki-moon
